Bhaskar D. Krishnamurthy is an award winning cultural and natural history explorer, author and photojournalist. He is the author of the book: "The Fragile Forest: Inside Brazilian Amazonia". A Fellow International with the Explorers Club (www.explorers.org) he has great passion for science, research, cultural and natural history exploration. Bhaskar regularly collaborates with international organizations to document vanishing cultures and threatened landscapes. He has worked around the world covering wide ranging subjects from the heart of the Amazon basin to the Mangolian Steppe.
In the course of his journeys, he has experienced many life changing experiences including captured by militants, surviving a road accident and attacked by a rampaging rhino. He has also experienced surreal beauty and the enduring power of the human spirit.
Bhaskar's work is published in UNESCO Journal, Lonely Planet, Departures, UNDP, Lounge-WSJ, Oxfam, Earthwatch, Insight Guides, and many others.
Earlier in 2012, he was honored with Canada's Northern Lights Award for his work on the Canadian Sub-arctic. In addition he has won several awards with the SATW Muster Photo competition. Bhaskar is an active with the Society of American Travel Writers (www.satw.org) and the founder of Augusta Photo Festival.
