PROSPECTIVE memberS FAQs
Q: How does one become a member of TJG?
A: Current TJG members are the only ones who can nominate
prospective members. Membership is by invitation only. The

who serve as sponsors. The prospective member must have traveled
with at least one of his or her sponsors.
Q: What are the qualifications to become a TJG member?
A: You must be a self-employed (not salaried) freelance travel
journalist in the field of writing, photography, lecturing,
art, radio or television who has worked in the field for at
least three years in the past five. (See specific requirements
for each category below).
Q: How does the sponsorship process work?
A: You must be sponsored by two active members of the Guild.
Each sponsor will be required to write letters of recommendation
to the Membership Committee. Each member may sponsor only
two people annually. The Guild year runs from October 1 through
the following September 30.
Q: What are the membership categories and required qualifications?
A: Prospective applicants are required to submit proof of
their published work. Articles and photographs must be of

member should apply as an individual.
